Funding information for applicants

The Crown makes a contribution to the costs of iwi, hapū or whānau groups who are progressing an application under te Takutai Moana Act 2011 and the Ngā Rohe Moana o Ngā Hapū o Ngāti Porou Act 2019.

Processing Timeframes: Te Tari Whakatau is currently committed to a total of 45 working days for the assessment and payment of reimbursement requests. The timeframe allows 30-35 working days for assessment and 10 working days for payment. 

Funding Disputes: Where an applicant disputes a decision made by Te Tari Whakatau, they can email Te Tari Whakatau’s escalation mailbox via funding.escalations@whakatau.govt.nz.  

Please include in your email the following information: 

  • The applicant groups CIV number and name 
  • The invoice in dispute and the reason why you disagree with the decision
  • The date the request that included the invoice was submitted to Te Tari Whakatau
  • Any other relevant information
