Kororipo Pā Historic Reserve

On 3 February 2025 the Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations and the trustees of Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia Trust, who intend to hold Kororipo Pā as kaitiaki on behalf of Ngāpuhi, initialled the Tuhinga Whakaae o Te Tuku Tōmua o Kororipo Pā/ Deed of On-Account Vesting of Kororipo Pā.

The initialling of the Deed is an important step towards providing reparations to Ngāpuhi. TRONR and the Crown continue to work towards the signing of the Deed.

The Deed agrees the Crown will transfer Kororipo Pā as a historic reserve to Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Rēhia Trust on-account of a future comprehensive Ngāpuhi Treaty settlement. It will be the first redress the Crown provides Ngāpuhi.
